Time travel and discover Old Government Buildings

There was a time when cats were ranked amongst the most useful staff at the Old Government Buildings in Wellington. The furry felines played an important role in keeping rats and mice at bay so that the work of cabinet (which was once hosted in the building) could continue without interruption.

Today all that remains of the purr-fect endeavours made to keep the rats and mice away are a mummified rat or two, and the lips at each office door, used to block them from slipping away from their captors.

You can see all this and more when you visit Old Government Buildings. (Listen out for the scurry of paws whipping along the floorboards…)
