Love and Marriage: Images of Romantic Unions is a touring exhibition from the New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata. It draws together works from photographic archives and art collections and asks us to consider the differences that exist between cultural norms and lived experiences, testing our assumptions about what defines love in Aotearoa New Zealand.

In this talk Marianne Hargreaves and Diane Morcom, trustees of the New Zealand Portrait Gallery, will discuss the background and stories of the exhibition and talk about the Gallery.

Marianne Hargreaves has held creative and management positions within a variety of arts organisations in Ōtautahi and Pōneke. She is passionate about the visual arts and especially likes to tell the stories behind the images the public see.

Diane Morcom is a former senior public servant. She has been heavily involved with the Gallery for the past 16 years as it has grown from a small office with one staff member and no permanent home, to a thriving organisation with a gallery on the Wellington waterfront.
