After a hugely successful sunny Much Ado About Nothing at Old St Paul's in April 2023, award-winning theatre company The Barden Party is back on Mulgrave Street, putting their fun-loving spin on Shakespeare’s most famous play with hilarious and heartfelt antics. Set as a modern-bohemian romance put to New Zealand and Australian music you love, and some that you’ve never heard before… You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll dance the afternoon away.
Born in a Nelson backyard during the height of the pandemic as a way of bringing joy and laughter safely to people’s homes, Barden Party performances quickly sold out across the country, picking up a number of awards and accolades along the way.
Bring what you need to be comfortable, including sunglasses, hat, warm clothes (just in case!) and a blanket to sit on. Some outdoor seating (on a first come first served basis) will also be available, as will Duck Island ice cream at the OSP snack bar. Feel free to make your way to the lawn and get comfortable anytime from 12.30pm.
We've also got a beautiful heritage wet-weather contingency plan, so if it rains? Just come to the main entrance of the building, grab some ice cream from our indoor snack bar, or bring your picnic, and make yourselves at home!
