The Storekeeper and Suffragent exhibition tells Walter Sheppard's story through historical and archaeological evidence and showcases artefacts from his 1865-1875 shop, Sheppard and Co., from alcohol bottles and clay tobacco pipes to pickle jars, glass tumblers and ceramic transfer wares.
The exhibition is a collaboration between Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Underground Overground Archaeology and the Christchurch Archaeology Project.
