The movement of people between goldrushes provided an opportunity for people to reinvent themselves. This talk explores the fluid definition of marriage at the time and provides some colourful examples.

Julia Bradshaw is currently Senior Curator Human History at Canterbury Museum and has a background in South Island social history with a special interest in New Zealand’s gold-rushes and the experiences of women.
